Daiquiris get a bad rap. This ain't no frozen crap (though if I were lounging by a pool in Palm Springs, you could definitely offer me one of those, too).

I adore these at my favorite South Brooklyn restaurant, Lot 2, and decided to start making them at home! You should, too. They’re easy and beautiful. The rum also makes a great dinner party gift.

Strawberry Daiquiri

2 oz strawberry rum *
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup

* To make strawberry rum, combine strawberries and light rum in a non reactive container. We used a 1 lb. container of strawberries for a 750 ml bottle of rum. Let sit for 24 hours. Strain.

Combine ingredients in shaker with ice. Shake well, and strain into a coupe. Garnish with a lime wheel.
