It's a sunny and almost-springlike day in New York today, but before you all go pulling out your Rosé and Margaritas, let us pay homage to one of the weather cocktail standards: the Manhattan.
It's such an easy cocktail for the home bartender. It requires just a few ingredients, and the proportions are easy to memorize. You can scale it up really easily for a group.
Treat yourself to a bottle of Carpano Antica Formula sweet vermouth. It's completely worth it. And we like to keep the booze in our hand engraved Liquor Decanters, cause they're fancy.
2 oz rye whiskey (our workhorse is Old Overholt)
1 oz sweet vermouth (we like Carpano Antica Formula)
a few dashes of bitters
Combine ingredients in a tall glass over ice. Stir, strain, and serve. Garnish with a cherry.
