Planter's Punch Cocktail Recipe

Nothing like the cold of winter and a blizzard to make you crave ... a tiki drink? Really, I'd like a nice, long vacation, but that's not happening at the moment, so I'll settle for the next best thing: a drink to transplant me to somewhere tropical.

Even with a very well stocked bar, I often find that I'm missing an ingredient or two for tiki drinks. Orgeat Syrup? Velvet Falernum? We just don't always have those stocked up, but we do often have a specialty liqueur or two that we'd like to try out. For today's cocktail, we started with a basic (but completely tropical and delicious) Planter's Punch. We swapped out the pineapple juice for St. George's Spiced Pear Liqueur, and the result was — a slightly more wintery version of — warm-weather magic.  


PS: To make this treat extra-tropical we served it in W&P's pineapple tumbler. Special appearances by a grenadine Custom Decanter and a Rum Liquor Decanter



1 1/2 oz dark rum
1/4 oz grenadine
3/4 oz orange juice
3/4 oz St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur
cherry & orange wedge garnish

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake well. Strain and serve over fresh ice with a cherry and orange wedge garnish.
