On this unrelentingly cold Friday afternoon, I suggest that you slog home through the cold, prepare this delicious cocktail from our friend, food writer & photographer Lauren Kodiak, and have a snuggle.
For the last few weeks, New York has been pummeled by snowstorm after snowstorm. When the temperatures drop and flurries start falling outside, we have been turning to our trusty Bourbon Decanter to help warm us up.
These Honey-Thyme Hot Toddies are easy to throw together and can be made with items you probably already have in your pantry and fridge—perfect for a snow day stuck at home.
Honey-Thyme Hot Toddy
(slightly adapted from Bon Appétit)
1/4 cup honey
1 cup water
2-4 sprigs of fresh thyme
6 tablespoons Bourbon
2 cinnamon sticks
2 strips lemon peel
Combine honey, water, and thyme in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove thyme sprigs. Add Bourbon and stir to combine. Distribute mixture evenly between 2 cups (toddy glasses if you have them!).
Stir a cinnamon stick into each cup and garnish with a lemon peel. Enjoy!
